Back With Baby, Ex Regrets Deeply

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Back With Baby, Ex Regrets Deeply Worth Your Time?

ShortMax's "Back With Baby, Ex Regrets Deeply" hooks viewers with a premise engineered for maximum emotional whiplash: a woman scorned, a hidden pregnancy, and a public comeuppance years in the making. The drama wastes no time, plunging into betrayal and setting the stage for a revenge arc that promises to satisfy every craving for justice. Early episodes crackle with tension as the female lead navigates single motherhood while secretly plotting her ex's downfall, and the show's breakneck pacing—a hallmark of vertical short-form—keeps the momentum relentless. It's the kind of setup that makes you instinctively reach for the next episode, even as you roll your eyes at the melodrama.

Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the drama delivers on its core tropes, albeit with familiar execution. Fans celebrate the female lead's agency—she's no passive victim but an architect of her own revenge—and the chemistry between her and her supportive new partner offers a refreshing counterpoint to the toxic ex. The hidden identity trope is deployed effectively, with the paternity reveal at the charity gala earning cheers for its sheer audacity. However, critics note that the scheming rival and the ex's mother are painted in broad strokes, their villainy bordering on cartoonish, and the middle episodes occasionally sag under repetitive misunderstandings. Still, the community agrees that the climax is a satisfying payoff, even if the journey there is paved with predictable twists.

For those who relish a well-executed revenge fantasy with a side of baby-daddy regret, this drama justifies the coins. It's best suited for viewers who appreciate high-stakes melodrama and don't mind suspending disbelief for the sake of a good comeuppance. The replay value is moderate—the gala scene alone is worth a rewatch—but the binge factor is high, thanks to tight episode lengths and cliffhanger endings. If you're in the mood for a cathartic, trope-heavy ride, this one delivers.
