Betrayed by Immortals, Reborn as a Demon Lord

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Betrayed by Immortals, Reborn as a Demon Lord Worth Your Time?

Betrayed by Immortals, Reborn as a Demon Lord opens with a celestial gut-punch: a divine hero, stripped of his essence and cast down by the very gods he served, awakens as a demon lord. That premise—equal parts cosmic revenge and identity crisis—is catnip for vertical-drama viewers, who crave immediate stakes and visceral payback. The early episodes waste no time, plunging our protagonist into a world of treachery where every ally might be a conspirator. The narrative momentum is relentless, each cliffhanger pulling you deeper into a saga of betrayal and dark ascension, making it nearly impossible to stop at just one episode.

Across forums like Reddit and MyDramaList, fans celebrate the show's unapologetic embrace of its tropes: the hidden identity reveal is savored, the revenge arc is deliciously over-the-top, and the chemistry between the demon lord and his steadfast beloved offers a rare anchor of warmth. Yet the community also notes uneven pacing—some stretches feel like filler, and the melodrama can tip into self-parody. The misunderstanding that fuels the central conflict is both a highlight and a frustration; audiences love the tension but grow impatient with its prolonged resolution. Still, the character agency is strong: the protagonist's transformation from victim to supreme ruler feels earned, and the villains' comeuppance is satisfyingly brutal. Where it stumbles is in the middle act, where repetitive confrontations dilute the impact of the ultimate reveal.

For those who relish dark fantasy revenge with a generous side of spectacle, this drama justifies the binge. It's best suited for viewers who appreciate a protagonist who fully embraces his monstrous side and a romance that survives the apocalypse. The replay value is moderate—the climax is worth rewatching, but the journey there has bumps. If you're in it for the catharsis of seeing corrupt immortals get their due, this demon lord's ascent is a ride worth taking.
