Buddies Across Time

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Buddies Across Time Worth Your Time?

Buddies Across Time opens with a tantalizing premise: three modern friends hurtled into a ancient world of palace intrigue, where secret identities and a reclusive master hold the keys to survival. The early episodes hook viewers with brisk pacing and a clear goal—expose the villainous Prince Adam—while the promise of time travel adds a layer of fish-out-of-water charm. GoodShort's vertical format amplifies the urgency, each cliffhanger pulling you deeper into the schemes. The narrative momentum is relentless, and the show wisely keeps its eye on the bond between the buddies, making their journey feel personal and high-stakes.

Community chatter across Reddit and MyDramaList reveals a consensus: the chemistry among the trio is the drama's beating heart. Audiences celebrate Gavin's reveal as the Empress—a twist that reframes earlier scenes and showcases strong character agency. The tropes are handled with knowing efficiency: revenge drives the plot, hidden identities create tension, and betrayal lurks in every banquet. However, some viewers note pacing issues in the middle stretch, where palace schemes become repetitive and melodrama edges into overdrive. The villains, while satisfyingly punished, are occasionally cartoonish, and the time-travel element is underutilized. Still, the camaraderie and clever turnarounds keep most viewers engaged.

For those who relish ancient-set revenge fantasies with a dash of time travel and a hearty dose of bromance, Buddies Across Time justifies the investment. It's best suited for fans of palace intrigue who appreciate swift resolutions and united fronts. The finale delivers a satisfying vindication, though the journey has its lulls. Binge value is high for a weekend marathon, but replay appeal may wane once the twists are known. A solid entry in the vertical drama canon, earning a respectable 8.3.
