Burning Love My Ace Ex-wife is Not to Be Messed With

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Burning Love My Ace Ex-wife is Not to Be Messed With Worth Your Time?

What if the one who got away came back from the dead—as the target of your latest assignment? That's the irresistible hook of "Burning Love: My Ace Ex-wife is Not to Be Messed With," a 30-episode vertical drama from DramaBox that blends romantic suspense with corporate intrigue. Serena, a top quality inspector for Pandora, takes a seemingly simple job: test the loyalty of conglomerate heir Victor. But Victor is her ex-husband, presumed dead in a fire five years ago. The reunion sparks a chain of conspiracy, pursuit, and a second chance at love—all while unraveling the truth behind the fire that tore them apart.

Audiences are eating up this trope-heavy rollercoaster, and who can blame them? The show leans hard into the "fake death ex" and "enemies to lovers" playbook, but it's the execution that has fans buzzing. Community discussions praise the chemistry between the leads, the breakneck pacing of each short episode, and the satisfying twist of Serena being the "ace" ex-wife who refuses to be messed with. Sure, some critics point out the predictable corporate villain and the occasional plot hole, but the majority agree: this is binge-worthy escapism. The vertical format amplifies the tension, with cliffhangers that keep viewers swiping for more.

As a columnist, I'd say "Burning Love" knows exactly what it is and delivers with flair. It's not high art, but it's a damn good time—a guilty pleasure that wears its tropes like a badge of honor. The reunion arc is surprisingly heartfelt, and the action sequences are punchy. If you're a fan of second-chance romance with a side of corporate takedown, this one's for you. Just don't expect subtlety; expect fireworks.
