EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE
Is Forbidden Ice：Fall in love with My Step-sisters Worth Your Time?
Forbidden Ice: Fall in love with My Step-sisters opens with a tantalizing premise: Nova, a battered figure skater, returns to the ice only to find her fiercest battles at home. Her stepsisters, Octavia and Lorelei, are not merely rivals but polar opposites—one a cold coach, the other a sweet commentator—each vying for Nova's heart. It's a setup that promises high-stakes melodrama, and DramaBox's 44-episode format ensures every icy glare and calculated smile gets its due.
Audience chatter around the series reveals a community hooked on its trope-heavy execution. Fans praise the delicious tension between Octavia's frosty discipline and Lorelei's sugary manipulation, calling it a masterclass in sibling rivalry with a sapphic twist. The bullying subplot, while familiar, resonates as Nova's underdog grit shines through. However, some viewers note pacing issues in the middle episodes, where the tug-of-war feels repetitive. Still, the skating sequences and emotional confrontations keep the consensus largely positive, with many binging through the night.
As a columnist, I find Forbidden Ice a guilty pleasure that knows its audience. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but it executes its tropes with conviction, delivering the emotional highs and icy chills fans crave. The stepsisters' dynamic is the show's beating heart, and Nova's journey from victim to victor is satisfying, if predictable. For those who love their drama with a side of skating and sibling rivalry, this is a worthy spin on the ice.
