Hating and Loving My Adopted Brother

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Hating and Loving My Adopted Brother Worth Your Time?

ReelShort's "Hating and Loving My Adopted Brother" dangles a deliciously taboo premise: a stepsibling romance wrapped in enemies-to-lovers tension. The early episodes hook viewers with sharp banter and stolen glances, as Abigail and Chris's hostile facade crackles with unspoken desire. The show's vertical format amplifies every charged moment, and the promise of a forbidden reveal keeps the narrative momentum brisk, even when the plot leans into familiar melodrama.

Community discussions reveal a divided but engaged audience. Fans celebrate the chemistry between the leads, praising the slow-burn tension and the satisfying climax where Chris publicly declares his love, shattering the taboo. The enemies-to-lovers arc is executed with enough angst to keep shippers invested, and the villain's comeuppance delivers a cathartic punch. However, critics note pacing issues—some mid-series episodes feel like filler, and the misunderstanding tropes grow repetitive. The adoption reveal, while dramatic, is handled with a predictability that undermines its shock value. Still, the character agency, particularly Abigail's journey from grief to belonging, resonates, and the steamy moments are strategically placed to reward loyal viewers.

Ultimately, this drama justifies its 65-episode run for genre enthusiasts. It's a guilty pleasure best suited for fans of taboo romance and campus dramas who savor emotional rollercoasters. While not groundbreaking, the satisfying ending and strong lead chemistry offer high binge value. For those willing to overlook occasional melodramatic excess, it's a worthy investment of coins and time.
