EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE
Is Haunted Worth Your Time?
CandyJar's "Haunted" opens with a tantalizing premise: Raven, a young woman who sees ghosts, must solve a classmate's murder while navigating her feelings for the brooding Cade, whose gloves hide burn scars. The show hooks viewers immediately with its blend of supernatural mystery and romantic tension, each short episode ending on a cliffhanger that makes it nearly impossible to stop watching. The ghost's testimony and the slow unraveling of the real killer's identity create a propulsive narrative momentum that keeps audiences swiping for the next installment.
Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the chemistry between Raven and Cade is the drama's strongest asset, with fans praising their gradual trust-building and the way Raven's gift is portrayed as both a burden and a strength. The revenge and hidden identity tropes are executed with satisfying twists, particularly the reveal that a trusted adult is the murderer, which subverted expectations. However, some viewers note that the middle episodes drag with repetitive misunderstandings and that the melodrama occasionally tips into overwrought territory. Still, the public memorial confrontation and the villains' broadcast confession earned widespread applause for their cathartic payoff.
Ultimately, "Haunted" justifies its 40-episode commitment for fans of supernatural romance and revenge narratives. While pacing issues may test patience, the strong leads and clever trope subversions make it a binge-worthy watch, especially for those who enjoy a mix of ghostly mystery and slow-burn romance. It's a solid addition to CandyJar's lineup, best suited for viewers who appreciate emotional stakes and a satisfying, if occasionally uneven, journey.
