Hidden Agendas: The Son's Return

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Hidden Agendas: The Son's Return Worth Your Time?

GoodShort's "Hidden Agendas: The Son's Return" opens with a premise that is pure catnip for vertical-drama devotees: a wronged mother, a secret heir, and a revenge plot that promises to upend the lives of those who wronged them. The early episodes waste no time in establishing the stakes, hooking viewers with the tantalizing prospect of a child who holds the key to toppling a corrupt empire. The narrative momentum is relentless, each cliffhanger designed to keep thumbs scrolling and coins dropping, as the son's hidden identity becomes a ticking time bomb beneath the schemers' feet.

Across discussion boards like Reddit and MyDramaList, the community consensus is that this drama delivers on its core promises, particularly for fans of the revenge and counterattack tropes. Viewers celebrate the strong female lead who refuses to be a passive victim, and the cute kid who serves as both emotional anchor and plot catalyst. The chemistry between the main couple is often praised, though some note that the misunderstanding that keeps them apart feels stretched thin over 82 episodes. The boardroom showdown and public reveal are frequently cited as satisfying payoffs, but pacing issues in the middle stretch draw criticism, with some episodes feeling like filler. The villains' downfall is cheered, yet a few viewers find the melodrama dial turned up to eleven, straining credulity.

Ultimately, "Hidden Agendas" is a solid entry in the revenge-romance subgenre, offering enough twists and emotional beats to justify the investment for genre aficionados. It's best suited for viewers who relish a strong maternal protagonist, a precocious child, and a slow-burn romance wrapped in corporate intrigue. While the middle episodes may test patience, the climax delivers the catharsis promised, making it a binge-worthy ride for those who enjoy their dramas with a side of righteous vengeance. For newcomers to vertical shorts, it's a fair introduction; for veterans, it's a familiar but satisfying fix.
