Just One Kiss

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Just One Kiss Worth Your Time?

ReelShort's "Just One Kiss" opens with a premise that feels like a warm hug for anyone who has ever pined after a childhood friend. Farrah's unrequited love for Ethan, the golden boy next door, is immediately complicated by the arrival of Gia, a classic mean-girl rival who seems to have everything—including Ethan's attention. The early episodes hook viewers with a steady drip of stolen glances, almost-confessions, and the agonizing tension of "will they or won't they." It's the kind of narrative momentum that keeps you tapping "next episode" late into the night, even as you know exactly where it's headed.

Across forums like Reddit and MyDramaList, the community consensus is that the show's strength lies in its earnest execution of beloved tropes. Fans celebrate the slow-burn chemistry between Farrah and Ethan, and the satisfying comeuppance of Gia and Connor, whose schemes are exposed in a climax that feels both cathartic and earned. The summer festival confession, where Ethan publicly chooses Farrah, is widely praised as a goosebumps-inducing moment. However, some viewers note that the middle episodes drag with repetitive misunderstandings and that Sheryl's sudden change of heart feels rushed. The love triangle, while effective, occasionally leans too heavily on Gia's cartoonish villainy, and Connor's harassment subplot is resolved a bit too neatly. Still, the core romance and the friends-to-lovers arc keep the emotional stakes high.

For those who adore first-love fantasies and the thrill of watching the underdog win, "Just One Kiss" is a satisfying binge. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but it delivers the tropes with sincerity and a genuinely swoon-worthy lead couple. The 72-episode length might test patience during the slower stretches, but the payoff—a summer of romance and a hard-won happy ending—makes it worth the coins. Best suited for fans of sweet, trope-heavy romances who don't mind a little melodrama with their kisses.
