Love, Like a Rose

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Love, Like a Rose Worth Your Time?

Love, Like a Rose opens with a familiar but irresistible hook: a wronged heiress hiding in plain sight, a scheming stepsister, and a bodyguard whose loyalty borders on devotion. MiniShort's vertical format thrives on instant gratification, and this drama delivers it in spades—each episode ends on a sharp cliffhanger, pulling viewers deeper into Rose's quest for revenge. The premise is pure catnip for short-form audiences, blending Cinderella tropes with a modern billionaire twist. Early episodes waste no time establishing stakes, and the narrative momentum rarely flags, making it dangerously easy to binge.

Across forums like Reddit and MyDramaList, viewers consistently praise the chemistry between Rose and Ethan, whose slow-burn romance offers a grounded counterpoint to the melodrama. The hidden identity trope is executed with satisfying precision—Rose's transformation from doormat to powerhouse is a crowd-pleaser. However, communities also note pacing issues: some mid-series episodes feel stretched, with misunderstandings that border on repetitive. The revenge arc, while cathartic, occasionally leans into over-the-top territory, and Lily's villainy is criticized as one-note. Still, the gala climax—where Rose publicly dismantles Lily—earns unanimous applause for its deliciously dramatic payoff. Audiences celebrate the female agency and the satisfying downfall of the villains, even if the journey there has filler.

For those who relish a well-executed revenge fantasy with a side of romance, Love, Like a Rose justifies the coins. It's best suited for fans of vertical dramas who prioritize emotional highs over nuanced storytelling. The replay value is moderate—the climax is rewatchable, but the middle sag may deter repeat binges. Ultimately, it's a guilty pleasure that delivers on its promises, even if it won't convert skeptics of the genre.
