My Flirtatious Substitute Husband

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is My Flirtatious Substitute Husband Worth Your Time?

At first glance, "My Flirtatious Substitute Husband" seems like another entry in the crowded substitute-marriage genre, but its premise—a contract husband who is secretly a CEO—hooks viewers with the promise of a grand reveal. The early episodes waste no time establishing the stakes: a woman trapped in a loveless arrangement, scheming relatives circling, and a husband whose flirtatious facade hides immense power. This setup creates immediate narrative momentum, as each short episode dangles the threat of exposure and the thrill of revenge. The vertical format amplifies the tension, with cliffhangers that practically dare you to keep watching.

Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the drama delivers on its core tropes, albeit with familiar execution. Fans celebrate the satisfying comeuppance of the jealous cousin and greedy uncle, and the chemistry between the leads is often praised as the show's anchor. However, some viewers note that the hidden identity trope feels stretched thin, with the CEO reveal telegraphed early and the misunderstanding subplot occasionally dragging. The revenge elements are crowd-pleasing but predictable, and the melodrama can tip into excess during family confrontations. Still, the contract marriage setup is handled with enough emotional weight to keep audiences invested, even when the pacing stumbles in the middle episodes.

Ultimately, "My Flirtatious Substitute Husband" is a guilty pleasure that knows its audience. It won't convert skeptics of the genre, but for fans of revenge-driven romance and hidden identity twists, it offers a satisfying, if formulaic, ride. The lavish vow renewal and tearful confessions provide a cathartic finale that justifies the journey, though the journey itself is best enjoyed in binge-sized chunks. If you're looking for a quick, trope-heavy escape with a satisfying villain takedown, this drama is worth your coins—just don't expect reinvention.
