My Legendary Dad Returns

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is My Legendary Dad Returns Worth Your Time?

The premise of "My Legendary Dad Returns" is a masterclass in vertical short-form bait: a presumed-dead billionaire resurfaces to reclaim his family and destroy the brother who stole everything. From the first episode, the show hooks viewers with a potent blend of hidden identity and revenge, doling out clues and micro-reveals that keep the narrative momentum sprinting forward. The charity gala climax, where the dad exposes the uncle's embezzlement with hidden camera footage, is the kind of over-the-top payoff that short-drama audiences crave, and it's teased just enough to keep you tapping for the next episode.

Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the show delivers on its core tropes—betrayal, revenge, and hidden identity—with satisfying efficiency. Audiences celebrate the dad's quiet menace and the uncle's satisfyingly hissable villainy, while the wife and daughter's gradual acceptance adds emotional stakes. However, critics note that the middle episodes sag under repetitive misunderstandings and melodramatic padding, with some feeling the uncle's schemes become cartoonishly convoluted. The chemistry between the reunited family is praised, but the romantic subplot feels underdeveloped, and the pacing stumbles when it lingers too long on tearful confrontations rather than plot advancement.

Ultimately, "My Legendary Dad Returns" is a binge-worthy confection for fans of revenge fantasies and family redemption arcs. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but it executes its tropes with enough flair to justify the coins—especially for viewers who relish a satisfying villain takedown. If you're new to vertical dramas, this is a solid entry point; if you're a veteran, you'll appreciate the efficient storytelling despite the occasional melodramatic detour. A guilty pleasure that's best enjoyed in one sitting.
