My Ninth Life Came With an Underworld Hotline
Is My Ninth Life Came With an Underworld Hotline Worth Your Time?
What if the dead could testify? That's the irresistible hook of "My Ninth Life Came With an Underworld Hotline," a 66-episode vertical drama that turns a supernatural phone line into a weapon of revenge. From the first episode, the protagonist's discovery of a hotline to the afterlife—and her deceased mother on the other end—sets a breakneck pace. Each call delivers a new revelation, keeping viewers swiping as the mystery of her stepsister's true identity and the stepmother's schemes unravel. The premise is absurd yet oddly compelling, a perfect fit for short-form's appetite for high-concept twists and instant gratification.
Across Reddit threads and MyDramaList reviews, the community consensus is that this drama delivers on its wild promise, though not without hiccups. Fans celebrate the protagonist's agency—she's no passive victim, actively using the hotline to outmaneuver her enemies—and the satisfying schadenfreude of the villains' downfall. The hidden identity trope (the stepsister as a switched-at-birth imposter) lands with soapy flair, and the childhood friend's unwavering loyalty provides a sweet counterpoint to the betrayal. However, some viewers note pacing issues in the middle stretch, where repeated hotline calls feel formulaic, and the melodrama occasionally tips into unintentional comedy. The chemistry between leads is praised, but the rushed romance in later episodes left some wanting more development. Overall, the community agrees the revenge arc is executed with gusto, even if the journey has filler.
For those who relish over-the-top revenge fantasies with a supernatural twist, this drama is a binge-worthy ride. It justifies the coins for viewers who enjoy fast-paced reveals and don't mind a bit of cheese. Best suited for fans of melodramatic short-form soaps, it offers high replay value for its cathartic climax and satisfying villain takedown. If you can suspend disbelief and embrace the absurd, this hotline is worth dialing.
