My Secretly Cherished Love

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is My Secretly Cherished Love Worth Your Time?

MiniShort's "My Secretly Cherished Love" dangles a deliciously familiar carrot: the quiet assistant with a hidden identity as a celebrated artist, toiling in obscurity while her scheming rival steals credit. The premise hooks viewers immediately, promising a slow-burn romance laced with revenge and betrayal. Early episodes lean into the tension of unspoken admiration and workplace power dynamics, creating a narrative momentum that keeps audiences clicking for the next micro-episode. The setup is classic short-form bait—high stakes, secret identities, and a guaranteed cathartic reveal—and it executes the hook with efficient, addictive flair.

Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the drama's strength lies in its female lead's quiet agency and the palpable chemistry with the male lead. Fans celebrate the satisfying comeuppance of the villainous rival, who gets a public exposure and legal consequences that feel earned. The hidden identity trope is handled with enough suspense to keep viewers engaged, though some criticize the pacing as uneven, with certain misunderstandings stretched thin for melodramatic effect. The revenge arc delivers visceral satisfaction, but a few forum threads note that the supporting characters lack depth, and the betrayal subplot resolves too neatly. Still, the core romance and the artist's journey toward recognition resonate, making the flaws forgivable for genre enthusiasts.

For those who relish a well-executed hidden identity romance with a side of revenge, "My Secretly Cherished Love" justifies the time and coins. It's best suited for fans of vertical dramas who appreciate a strong female protagonist and a satisfying takedown of workplace villains. The binge value is high—each episode ends on a hook that demands the next—though the replay factor may wane once the reveal loses its novelty. It's a guilty pleasure that delivers on its promises, even if it doesn't break new ground.
