Sugar-Kissed Affection

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Sugar-Kissed Affection Worth Your Time?

Sugar-Kissed Affection opens with a premise that vertical-drama fans know well: a contract marriage between a powerful CEO and an innocent intern, drenched in sweetness and secrets. What hooks viewers early is the promise of hidden identity and the thrill of a public reveal, as the CEO secretly protects his bride while she navigates office politics. The 97-episode format allows for a slow burn, but the narrative momentum stays brisk, with each short episode ending on a cliffhanger that keeps the binge alive. It's the kind of setup that invites instant investment, blending romance with just enough intrigue to keep you tapping for the next chapter.

Across community boards like Reddit and MyDramaList, viewers consistently praise the chemistry between the leads, which sells the sweet, love-after-marriage trope despite the familiar territory. The CEO is often described as a refreshingly tender alpha, and the intern's gradual empowerment resonates with audiences who cheer for her agency. However, discussions also highlight pacing issues: the middle episodes drag with repetitive misunderstandings, and the villains—the scheming ex and corrupt board members—feel one-dimensional, their downfall predictable. Fans celebrate the satisfying climax where the CEO publicly claims his wife and exposes the conspirators, but some note that the melodrama occasionally tips into over-the-top territory, especially in the drawn-out revenge subplot. Still, the community consensus is that the romantic beats outweigh the flaws, with many admitting they fast-forwarded through the villain scenes to get back to the couple's sweet moments.

For those who adore CEO romance and love-after-marriage tropes, Sugar-Kissed Affection delivers a satisfying, if uneven, ride. It's best suited for viewers who enjoy a protective hero, a slow-burn romance, and a tidy comeuppance for the villains. While the 97 episodes may test patience, the payoff—a lavish vow renewal and the CEO's emotional growth—justifies the time and coins for genre enthusiasts. Binge-worthy for a weekend, but perhaps not a repeat watch; it's a sweet confection that satisfies the craving without leaving a lasting impression.
