The Apple of His Eye

Is The Apple of His Eye Worth Your Time?

ReelShort's "The Apple of His Eye" dangles a tantalizing premise: a self-made billionaire who never forgot the girl who broke his heart. The 80-episode vertical drama wastes no time, plunging viewers into the high-stakes world of Skyline Group where Violet, a lowly employee, is oblivious to the fact that her cold, powerful boss Luke is her former lover. The early episodes crackle with tension as Luke's possessive gaze and cryptic remarks hint at a shared past, while Violet navigates workplace sabotage and a love triangle. This slow-burn reveal keeps the narrative momentum brisk, hooking audiences with each cliffhanger and micro-dose of chemistry.

Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus: the tropes are familiar but executed with satisfying precision. Fans celebrate the cathartic climax where Luke publicly declares Violet as his first love, silencing the schemers. The villains—a conniving colleague and a gold-digging ex—get their comeuppance in a fiery gala scene that had viewers cheering. However, critics note pacing issues: the middle episodes drag with repetitive misunderstandings and Violet's occasional lack of agency. Yet the chemistry between leads is palpable, and the hidden feelings trope is milked for maximum angst. Audiences appreciate that Violet eventually becomes an equal partner, though some wished she had more proactive moments earlier.

For those who relish a good reunion romance with a dash of revenge, "The Apple of His Eye" delivers. It's a satisfying binge for fans of possessive CEOs and second-chance love, though the 80-episode length may test patience. The payoff—a heartfelt proposal and a partnership of equals—justifies the journey. If you're here for the tropes and the emotional rollercoaster, this one's worth your coins. Just be prepared for a few detours into melodrama.
