The Campus Heartthrob Fell for My Fake Beauty

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is The Campus Heartthrob Fell for My Fake Beauty Worth Your Time?

The Campus Heartthrob Fell for My Fake Beauty dangles a deliciously familiar hook: a plain-Jane heroine who reinvents herself with a made-up face, only to catch the eye of the campus golden boy. DramaShorts wastes no time, plunging viewers into Mia's transformation and the dizzying thrill of being seen—until the lie starts to curdle. The early episodes crackle with the promise of exposure, each lingering glance from Ethan a tiny countdown to disaster. It's the kind of premise that thrives in vertical format, where every swipe brings a new blush or a new betrayal, and the narrative momentum rarely flags.

Across discussion boards, viewers are split on how well the tropes land. The revenge arc against the scheming rival delivers satisfying schadenfreude, and the hidden-identity tension keeps the comment sections buzzing with theories. Many praise Mia's gradual embrace of her natural self and the chemistry she shares with Ethan, which crackles even through the contrived misunderstandings. Yet some critics note that the betrayal subplot feels rushed, with the rival's comeuppance arriving too conveniently, and the middle episodes lean heavily on melodramatic coincidences. The community consensus is that the drama knows its lane—delivering guilty-pleasure twists—but occasionally stumbles in pacing, especially when it prioritizes shock over character agency.

For those who relish a classic makeover romance with a side of schadenfreude, this one earns its coins. It's best suited to fans of trope-heavy short dramas who don't mind a few eye-rolls in exchange for a satisfying, if predictable, climax. The replay value is moderate—the gala reveal and the rival's downfall are worth a rewatch, but the filler episodes may test your patience. Binge it for the chemistry and the catharsis, not for narrative innovation.
