The College Crush Chose the Nerdy Girl

Is The College Crush Chose the Nerdy Girl Worth Your Time?

The College Crush Chose the Nerdy Girl arrives on DramaShorts with a premise engineered to sting and soothe in equal measure: the campus goddess loses the boy to the girl who hides behind glasses, and the audience gets to watch the mask come off. What hooks viewers in the opening episodes isn't subtlety but velocity—the sabotage, the water-spill humiliation, the quiet humiliation of being overlooked—all delivered in the compressed, punchy rhythm vertical drama thrives on. The promise of a reckoning is the engine, and the show knows exactly when to tease the reveal that Ethan has already seen Lily's bare face and loved her courage first. It's a hook built for the scroll-and-binge crowd, and it lands.

Across discussion boards and clip reactions, the community consensus splits along predictable but telling lines. Audiences celebrate Lily's agency in the back half—the makeup brand, the fashion show, the refusal to shrink—and they adore the chemistry that blooms once Ethan stops being a prize and becomes a witness. The revenge beats against Emma and Ben satisfy the genre's core appetite, and the hidden-identity trope is handled with more emotional logic than most shorts bother with, since Ethan's love predates the reveal rather than depending on it. Where viewers push back is pacing: the middle stretch leans hard on melodrama, and some find the public humiliation of the villains more cathartic than credible, with the legal-team resolution feeling like a shortcut. The betrayal thread, too, gets resolved faster than the buildup deserved.

Still, as a coin-spend proposition, this one earns its place. It's best suited to viewers who want a satisfying underdog reversal with a genuinely sweet romantic core and don't mind a few contrived turns to get there. The finale—graduation, the proposal at the first fashion show—delivers the wish-fulfillment payoff the format promises, and the authentic-beauty message gives it a slightly smarter spine than its peers. Binge value is high; replay value is moderate, but for a vertical romance with revenge on its mind, that's a fair trade.
