The Girl Hidden in the Vampire Band

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is The Girl Hidden in the Vampire Band Worth Your Time?

What if "Some Like It Hot" collided with "Twilight" and got a K-pop makeover? That's the irresistible premise of "The Girl Hidden in the Vampire Band," a 42-episode vertical drama on DramaBox that has quickly become a guilty pleasure for fans of gender-bending romance and supernatural intrigue. Vivian's decision to impersonate her brother and join a hit boy band is already a recipe for chaos, but discovering her four bandmates are vampires? That's the kind of deliciously absurd twist that short dramas excel at, and it hooks you from the first episode.

Community consensus on the series is overwhelmingly positive, with viewers praising the crackling chemistry between Vivian and her undead bandmates. Fans on social media have been quick to point out the show's playful embrace of tropes—from the classic "disguised as a boy" setup to the brooding vampire leader who suspects her secret. The execution is surprisingly sharp for the genre, balancing humor with genuine tension. While some critics note that the 42-episode format leads to occasional pacing lulls, most agree that the show's charm lies in its self-aware humor and the delightful absurdity of a vampire boy band. The performances, particularly from the lead actress, have been lauded for their charisma and comedic timing, making the implausible premise feel oddly grounded.

As a columnist, I found "The Girl Hidden in the Vampire Band" to be a gleefully entertaining ride that knows exactly what it is: a campy, romantic escapade that never takes itself too seriously. It's not high art, but it's not trying to be. The show delivers on its promise of thrills, laughs, and swoon-worthy moments, making it a perfect binge-watch for anyone craving a supernatural fix with a side of gender-bending fun. For fans of the genre, this is a hidden gem worth sinking your teeth into.
