EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE
Is The Seventh Death of the Devil Worth Your Time?
ReelShort's "The Seventh Death of the Devil" opens with a tantalizing loop: a devil who dies at the hands of a woman he loves, only to resurrect and forget. This dark, animated supernatural romance hooks viewers by doling out fragments of a centuries-old mystery, each episode ending on a cliffhanger that demands the next. The forbidden love between a powerful devil and an heiress, tangled with a hidden identity and a supernatural auction, creates an irresistible momentum. Early episodes waste no time establishing stakes, and the promise of a seventh cycle where everything changes keeps the binge-watching engine purring.
Across forums and clip reactions, fans celebrate the intense chemistry and the slow-burn reveal of the devil's memories. The hidden identity trope is executed with satisfying precision, and the redemption arc feels earned rather than forced. However, community consensus also flags pacing issues: the middle episodes occasionally drag with repetitive misunderstandings, and some viewers note that the melodrama veers into overwrought territory. The villains are suitably despicable, but their comeuppance feels rushed in the final act. Still, the love-hate dynamic and the supernatural power plays keep most audiences engaged, even when the animation budget shows its limits.
For those who relish dark fantasy romance with a twist of revenge and redemption, this drama justifies the coins. It's best suited for fans of forbidden love and hidden identity tropes who can overlook some narrative stumbles. The satisfying conclusion—where the curse breaks and the lovers choose each other freely—offers a rewarding payoff. Binge value is high, though replay might be reserved for devoted genre enthusiasts. A solid addition to ReelShort's animation lineup.
