Weight of Love: From Flab to Fab
Is Weight of Love: From Flab to Fab Worth Your Time?
The premise of "Weight of Love: From Flab to Fab" is a masterclass in vertical short drama bait: a plus-size woman's transformation into a stunning beauty, poised to exact revenge on those who wronged her. From the first episode, the show hooks viewers with the familiar yet irresistible fantasy of shedding the weight—both literal and metaphorical—and emerging victorious. The early episodes efficiently establish Lily's humiliation and her determination, creating a narrative momentum that makes it nearly impossible to stop watching. It's the kind of setup that short-form audiences devour, promising a satisfying dose of vindication and romance in bite-sized installments.
Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the drama delivers on its core promises, albeit with some familiar pitfalls. Audiences celebrate Lily's agency and the satisfying revenge arc, particularly the climactic gala scene where she owns her past as a plus-size model—a moment that many found empowering. The chemistry between Lily and Jake is often praised, though some viewers note it takes a backseat to the revenge plot. The tropes of hidden identity and betrayal are executed with typical melodramatic flair, but critics point out that the middle episodes suffer from pacing issues, with repetitive misunderstandings and over-the-top villainy that occasionally strains credulity. Still, the community agrees that the villains' downfall is deliciously satisfying, and the body-positive message resonates.
Ultimately, "Weight of Love" justifies its 50-episode run for fans of the genre, offering a binge-worthy blend of romance and revenge with a heartfelt message. While it may not convert skeptics of vertical dramas, it's a solid choice for those who enjoy transformation stories and cathartic comebacks. The replay value is moderate—the climax is worth revisiting, but the journey there can feel padded. For viewers seeking a quick, emotionally charged fix, this drama delivers, though it won't linger long in the memory.
