[ENG DUB] I Was a Trash Tier Dragon Once

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is [ENG DUB] I Was a Trash Tier Dragon Once Worth Your Time?

What if the trash-tier mob you dismissed was actually a dragon in disguise? That's the irresistible hook of "[ENG DUB] I Was a Trash Tier Dragon Once," a 71-episode vertical fantasy that wastes no time plunging viewers into Alfie Lane's humiliating existence at a beast taming academy. Within minutes, he's betrayed, his core ripped out and fed to a bear, and the stage is set for a counterattack that keeps short-form addicts swiping. The early episodes lean hard into the underdog rise trope, doling out small victories and cryptic hints of Alfie's ancient bloodline, creating a narrative momentum that's part revenge fantasy, part mystery box. It's the kind of premise that hooks you before the first commercial break.

Across Reddit threads and MyDramaList forums, the community consensus is that this drama knows exactly what it is: a guilty-pleasure trope-fest that delivers on its promises. Fans celebrate the satisfying schadenfreude of the grand tournament climax, where Alfie ascends as a divine dragon and forces his tormentors to kneel. The girl who ripped out his core and her bear-feeding accomplice get their comeuppance in a public exposure that feels earned, if a tad melodramatic. Audiences praise the chemistry between Alfie and the school beauty who saved him, noting that their contract feels like a genuine partnership rather than a plot device. However, pacing is a common gripe; the middle episodes drag with repetitive training sequences and misunderstandings that could be resolved with a single conversation. Some viewers also find the villain's motives paper-thin, but most are willing to overlook it for the sheer catharsis of the final act.

For those who crave a binge-worthy revenge saga with a fantasy twist, "I Was a Trash Tier Dragon Once" justifies the coins. It's best suited for fans of underdog rise stories and dragon lore who don't mind a bit of melodrama. The replay value is moderate—the climax is rewatchable, but the journey there might feel padded on a second viewing. If you're in it for the satisfying counterattack and the anime-style showdowns, this dragon delivers.
