Falling For My Ex's General Dad

EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE

Is Falling For My Ex's General Dad Worth Your Time?

ReelShort's "Falling For My Ex's General Dad" opens with a premise engineered to stop thumbs mid-scroll: a woman entangled with her ex's formidable father, a military general whose authority and age only amplify the forbidden charge. The early episodes lean hard into that taboo tension, pairing rapid-fire reveals with the kind of breathless pacing that vertical dramas do best. Each cliffhanger—a stolen glance, a public near-exposure—pulls viewers deeper into the scandal, and the show's 55-episode sprint rarely pauses for air. It's a hook that understands its audience: give them forbidden fruit, then keep raising the stakes until the gala climax becomes inevitable.

Across Reddit threads and MyDramaList boards, the community consensus is that the central chemistry carries the day. Fans celebrate the General's quiet, commanding protectiveness and the heroine's gradual shift from pawn to agent, especially as she navigates the hidden-identity twist involving her fallen-comrade father. The revenge beats against the ex and his mother land with satisfying force, and the aide's downfall provides a neat villainous comeuppance. Yet viewers also note the melodrama's uneven hand: some mid-series misunderstandings feel stretched, and the age-gap romance occasionally stumbles into paternalism rather than partnership. Still, the secret-letter reveal and the public declaration of love are widely praised as earned emotional peaks, even if the path there is paved with familiar tropes.

For those who relish a forbidden-love saga with a military backdrop and a heroine who grows into her own power, this drama justifies the coins. It's best suited to fans of age-gap romance and revenge arcs who can forgive occasional pacing lags. The binge value is high—55 short episodes make for a swift, addictive ride—though replay appeal may hinge on how much you enjoy watching the villains get their due. A solid, if not revolutionary, entry in the vertical drama canon.
