EDITORIAL REVIEW / CRITIC'S TAKE
Is They Chose Her Nine Times. I Chose to Leave Worth Your Time?
GoodShort's "They Chose Her Nine Times. I Chose to Leave" dangles a tantalizingly cruel premise: a werewolf heroine rejected nine times by her fated mates, only to watch them fawn over her sister. The early episodes hook viewers with a potent blend of heartbreak and quiet fury, as Aria's humiliation is rendered in sharp, bingeable bursts. The promise of a counterattack—and the fantasy of walking away from toxic love—gives the story a relentless momentum that keeps thumbs scrolling.
Community discussions across Reddit and MyDramaList reveal a consensus that the drama's revenge arc is its beating heart. Fans celebrate Aria and Aurora's agency, cheering as the sisters dismantle Victoria's manipulation and expose the twins' willful blindness. The mate-bond severance is hailed as a cathartic twist, subverting the genre's usual forgiveness arc. However, critics note pacing issues in the middle stretch, where repetitive misunderstandings and Victoria's cartoonish villainy strain patience. The chemistry between the leads is praised, but some argue the romantic tension fizzles once the revenge takes center stage. Audiences also debate the handling of the werewolf lore—some find the Alpha Council scenes rushed, while others appreciate the focus on female solidarity over romantic redemption.
Ultimately, this is a satisfying snack for fans of strong female leads and just deserts. The 32-episode run justifies its coins with a decisive, vindicating finale that refuses to redeem the unworthy. It's best suited for viewers who relish underdog rises and toxic-love takedowns, though those seeking nuanced romance may find it thin. Binge value is high—the short episodes make for a swift, addictive watch—but replay appeal is moderate, as the emotional payoff hinges on the first-time shock of the reveal.
